STARYU CARDS GUIDE (JP VER.?How do you tell Staryu cards apart?Check the number in the bottom corner (e.g. 120/165 on the 151 Staryu). The 1996–2000 cards have no set number — the No.120 on them is the Pokédex number — so go by the set symbol, level and art: LV.15 is the Expansion Pack card, LV.13 is the Awakening Legends card and LV.20 is Misty’s Staryu from the Hanada City Gym deck. The CoroCoro promo and the Leaders’ Stadium Misty’s Staryu are both LV.16 but have different art.)
FIRST STARYU · OCT 20, 1996?Staryu's first card came in the Expansion Pack, the first Japanese expansion, released October 20, 1996 — over two years before the English Base Set.

JAPANESE STARYU CARD CHECKLIST

[8 CARDS] 1996 BASE TO 2023

Staryu’s first card was a 1996 Expansion Pack common, and in 1998 Misty’s Staryu came out three ways: as a CoroCoro Comic promo, and as two different cards in the Japan-only Hanada City Gym deck. These 8 are the ones worth finding, from the glossy vending card and the Awakening Legends Staryu to the 151 Master Ball mirror and the Shiny Treasure ex shiny. The 3 marked ★ are the ones to look for first: the Expansion Pack card, the CoroCoro Misty’s Staryu and the 151 Master Ball mirror 120/165.
